South Dakota Agricultural Foundation Fund
In 2016, a group of dedicated leaders committed to creating a fund that would act as a funding source for agricultural related projects in South Dakota for many years to come. The South Dakota Agricultural Foundation, an endowed fund within the South Dakota Community Foundation, will provide future grant funding for workforce development, industry development and diversification, working lands conservation projects and promotion of and service to agriculture. It will also provide a vehicle for donors and businesses alike who are interested in giving back to the industry that has supported them over the years. The goal of the fund is to raise $20 Million by 2021.
The South Dakota Agricultural Foundation was created to invest in the future of South Dakota agriculture through a focus on education, innovation, diversification, action and opportunity.
To be a relevant, positive, proactive force for change and growth in agriculture.
Any initiative of this size requires a diligent group of leaders around the table. A volunteer advisory council will be responsible for the growth of the South Dakota Agricultural Foundation and future grant distribution recommendations. These leaders have a passion for seeing agriculture continue to grow as South Dakota's largest industry. Advisory council members include:
Bernie Christenson - Retired South Dakota Community Foundation Executive
Bill Even - Commercial Unit Lead at DuPont Pioneer
Nate Franzen - President/Agri-Business Division of First Dakota National Bank
Christine Hamilton - Co-Owner and Managing Partner of Christiansen Land and Cattle, Ltd.
Nathan Jensen - Chief Financial Officer of Meadowvale Dairy, LLC

Bob Sutton - Executive Vice President and Director of Human Resources at Avera Health
