We partner with a number of other foundations and organizations who are doing good things for South Dakota communities.

Bush Foundation

The Bush Foundation invests in great ideas and the people who power them. Its mission is to be a catalyst for the courageous leadership necessary to create sustainable solutions to tough public problems and ensure community vitality. The Foundation works in communities across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and the 23 Native nations that share the same geographic area.

Dakotafire is a rural community journalism project. This alliance of reporters and editors work together to produce in-depth coverage of important community issues. Currently based in the James River-watershed area of North and South Dakota, Dakotafire helps journalists cover topics that they could not address alone.

The Knight Foundation

The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation advances journalism in the digital age and invests in the vitality of communities where the Knight brothers owned newspapers. The Knight Foundation offers grant opportunities to Brown County nonprofits. The grant cycle for 2015 is currently on hold, but will resume later this spring.  Please Contact us or email Julie Johnson for more information.

Goldcorp-Wharf Sustainable Prosperity Fund

Goldcorp recognizes that mines don't last forever. That's why they created the million-dollar Goldcorp-Wharf Sustainable Prosperity Fund to benefit the area surrounding their Wharf Mine near Lead, S.D. The intent is to bring long-term social and economic benefits and sustainable prosperity to the region. Donations are intended to support initiatives that build economic, social and cultural capacity and create a positive social and economic legacy.

Leadership South Dakota

The future success of South Dakota depends on our development of homegrown leaders. Leadership South Dakota promotes this goal through an eight-month leadership program. It gives engaged citizens throughout the state the background, experiences, and insights necessary to assume leadership positions in their community, state, and nation.
