President & CEO, CFP®, CGPA
Stephanie became President of the South Dakota Community Foundation in January 2013, after holding various positions with the Foundation since 1997. Currently, Stephanie oversees strategic vision, donor relations and grant program development. She also uses her skills as a Certified Financial Planner® and a Certified Gift Planning Associate to guide donors and nonprofits to the best planned giving option for them. Working directly with the Board of Directors, Stephanie executes the mission and vision of the SDCF.
Stephanie enjoys connecting with people who want to leave this state better than they found it and who are committed to giving back to the places they’ve called home. She is thankful for the progress the Foundation has made since its inception in 1987 and is committed to deepening its positive impact on South Dakota.
After graduating from Augustana College and starting her career in the sales division of Midco Communications, Stephanie returned to her hometown of Pierre to join the SDCF team.
Chief Financial Officer, CPA, CMA
Clay joined the South Dakota Community Foundation team in 2011. As a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant, he oversees the financial and investment activities of the Foundation. He ensures the organization complies with regulations pertaining to community foundations and provides accounting services.
Clay enjoys using his skills to prudently invest the funds entrusted to the SDCF, so they can benefit generations of future South Dakotans.
Before working at SDCF, Clay was employed at public accounting firms in Minnetonka, Minnesota and Pierre, South Dakota. Clay has served his alma mater as a past president of the USD Alumni Association and is currently a USD Foundation trustee.
Community Development Coordinator
Jamie started with the South Dakota Community Foundation in 2017. Based in Pierre, Jamie works with SDCF's Community Savings Accounts across the state to assist local Advisory Boards with their fundraising and philanthropic goals. She enjoys learning about and helping communities with their challenges and successes. In addition, she works to increase awareness for the SDCF and its CSAs through social media and marketing efforts.
Jamie grew up near the South Dakota Badlands on her parents’ cattle and wheat ranch. She received her bachelor’s degree in communications and marketing from the University of Wyoming. Jamie previously worked in government relations for South Dakota Retailers Association and public affairs for the South Dakota Department of Agriculture.
Growing up in a rural area, she understands the importance of community to South Dakota’s citizens. Jamie is happy to be a part of SDCF's mission to leave our state a better place for the next generation.
Executive Assistant to the President & CEO
Shelly joined SDCF in March 2019 with years of experience in administrative and operational work. Shelly is the principal contact point, chief scheduler and coordinator for the Foundation's President and the executive offices of the Foundation. She previously worked as Clinic Manager for Black Hills Pediatric Dentistry in Pierre. Prior to her role there, she was Operational Manager for multiple surgery centers throughout North Dakota for over 15 years.
Shelly enjoys being part of a motivated team to help worthwhile causes in South Dakota. Originally a North Dakota native, she grew up on her family's farm and ranch in the western part of the state. She now lives in Pierre with her husband, John.
Regional Director for Foundation Relations, CFRE
Beth joined the South Dakota Community Foundation team in February 2015. As Regional Director for Foundation Relations, Beth works with donors and nonprofit partners in western South Dakota. She is based out of Rapid City and is working to bring together stakeholders in the region to build stronger and more vibrant communities.
Beth enjoys working with donors to make their charitable visions a reality. She loves engaging citizens to be partners in change by implementing local solutions for local issues.
Beth comes to the SDCF with eight years of development experience. For the past two years, she worked as the Resource Development Director at the United Way of the Coastal Bend in Corpus Christi, Texas. In a nine-county region with over one million residents, she led workplace fundraising campaigns for the United Way at companies, such as Valero Energy, ExxonMobil King Ranch Gas Plant, the City of Corpus Christi and the Port of Corpus Christi. Before moving to Texas, she was also the Western Regional Director for Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota in Rapid City.
Kelly began working with the South Dakota Community Foundation in 2004. She processes all gifts received by the Foundation and issues IRS receipts to donors in a timely and accurate manner. She also administers the SDCF’s scholarship process by ensuring that all necessary IRS requirements are met before funds are disbursed to students from the Foundation’s more than 180 scholarship funds.
Kelly enjoys helping nonprofits receive funds to better serve South Dakotans. She also likes being part of connecting high school graduates with funds needed to continue their education.
Kelly brings accounting and financial reporting experience from her previous positions at First National Bank and Fischer Rounds Insurance of Pierre.
Senior Program Officer
Since 1998, Ginger has been a member of the South Dakota Community Foundation team. Nearly a decade of her time at the foundation has been spent overseeing the administration of grant programs. Currently, Ginger works closely with the Grant Making Committee to make distributions from the South Dakota Fund and Community Innovation Grants program, which is a partnership with the Bush Foundation. In addition to managing the grant application process from application to selection, she also oversees the Fairy Godmother Fund, which meets urgent needs of women in the state.
Ginger is committed to connecting non-profit organizations with the funds they need to help South Dakotans. Traveling across the state, she meets with grant applicants, conducts site visits of grant recipients and awards grant checks.
Before working at the foundation, Ginger was previously employed by Western Surety Company in Sioux Falls and the South Dakota Department of Education.
As a South Dakota native, Janet Ricketts and her family have been in Fort Pierre for six generations. Janet joined the staff of the SDCF in January 2017 and will assist with the large number of grants and scholarships that funnel through the home office in Pierre.
Her past work experience includes teaching for 11 years in Colorado and Wyoming, before returning to South Dakota to work for the South Dakota Department of Education supervising large federal grant programs for 20 years. Her previous position was with the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce serving as the Communications and Community Outreach Coordinator.
Janet enjoys her work with the South Dakota Community Foundation because of its ongoing profound effect on communities statewide.
Peggy has been a vital part of the team since 2014. She provides administrative support from our Pierre office to ensure efficient and organized performance for the Foundation. Previously, she worked 32 years in state government for the Department of Social Services, Health and the Bureau of Administration Office of the State Engineer. Peggy enjoys connecting donors, nonprofits, and community leaders to resources within SDCF.
Director of Development, MBA, CFRE
Jeff joined the South Dakota Community Foundation team in 2014. As the Director of Development, Jeff helps donors make their charitable visions a reality. Jeff is based out of Sioux Falls and assists donors, financial advisors and nonprofits in understanding how the SDCF is making lives better in South Dakota, today and for future generations.
Jeff enjoys working alongside an experienced and professional staff that is 100% dedicated to connecting donors with non-profits that are providing much needed services to his fellow South Dakotans.
Jeff previously worked for the University of Sioux Falls as the Executive Director of the USF Foundation and played a key role in the Greatest Gift Campaign and Uncampaign. Before returning to his alma mater, Jeff spent six years as a retail manager for Murdoch’s Ranch and Home Supply, one of the largest volume farm retail chains in the country.
Operations/Compliance Manager, JD
Karly started with the Foundation in September 2019. As Operations and Compliance Manager, Karly provides structure and oversight to fund administration ensuring compliance with applicable legal standards and that donor intent is followed.
Prior to joining the SDCF, Karly spent eight years as a Deputy State’s Attorney for Brown County in Aberdeen, SD, prosecuting child abuse and neglect, juvenile crime, and adult felonies as well as providing legal advice to the Brown County Commission. She also sat as a prosecutor on the Brown County Drug and DUI Courts. Before joining Brown County, Karly worked for the City of Aberdeen as a Staff Attorney.
As a fourth-generation South Dakotan, Karly looks forward to being a part of the continuing positive influence the SDCF has on this state.
