Welcome to the Huron Community Foundation website.  We are one of 70 Community Savings Accounts in South Dakota.  With administrative assistance from the South Dakota Community Foundation, the Huron Community Foundation is able to accept and administer charitable gifts, and award grants to Huron nonprofit groups and organizations.  The volunteer board members work hard to ensure funds are going to groups and organizations that need it most.

Money Raised Here, Stays Here

A Community Savings Account (CSA) offers you an opportunity to give a perpetual gift to the community of Huron.  The funds are invested by the SDCF, with 4.5% of the average value available to give back to nonprofits each year.  As the fund grows, so does the ability to make a local impact.  The HCF board of directors gives grants to support basic needs and enhance the quality of life within and around Huron.

Giving back to Huron

Sometimes donors have questions about how to give back to their community.  If you would like to give back to Huron, but are not sure where to begin, contact the SDCF.  Gifts may come in many forms:

The Huron Community Foundation (HCF) hosted 75 members of the community at “Huron Rising – Reimagine Our Future” in September of 2019, followed by a meeting a week later to present an Executive Summary of the results.

The purpose of the visioning session was to identify community priorities that were used to create a roadmap for the Foundation, elected officials, and other Huron nonprofit organizations to prioritize funding for future Huron projects.
