Founded in 2016 Giving Back to Kimball
Welcome to the Kimball Area Foundation website. Even though we are an agent of the South Dakota Area Community Foundation, we are able to accept and administer charitable gifts, give good grants to our local nonprofit groups and organizations, and also give scholarships to hopeful young people from our region. Our volunteer board members work hard to ensure funds are going to groups and organizations that need it most.

A Community Savings Account (CSA) offers you an opportunity to give a perpetual gift to the community of Kimball. The fund is invested by the SDCF and 4.5% of the average value is available to give back to nonprofits each year. As the fund grows, so does our ability to make a local impact. Our board of directors gives grants to support basic needs and enhance the quality of life within and around Kimball.
Giving back to Kimball
Sometimes donors have questions about how to give back to their community. If you would like to give back to Kimball, but are not sure where to begin, contact the SDCF. Gifts may come in many forms:
- Cash
- Check
- Commodity (Grain, corn, cattle)
- Land (Offset capital gains tax)
- Automatic Bank Transfers
- Cars, Coins, Collectables
- Gift of Stock
- Gift of Insurance Benefits
- Gift of Retirement Benefits

Our Contributors
Imagine having a $1 million endowment fund supporting the Kimball community. That would allow $45,000 to be given to charitable projects in our community each year. Other communities have it-why not Kimball? We need your help to get there.
The Kimball Area Foundation was created to give residents, alumni, businesses, and visitors a vehicle to give back to the entire community of Kimball. As our fund grows, so will the grant funding that is available for charitable purposes in Kimball. Your tax-deductible contribution will make a difference in the lives of Kimball residents for many generations to come. You do not need to be a millionaire to make a difference locally. Every gift makes a big difference and can help this fund grow over the long-term. You may also make a larger impact by remembering the Kimball Area Foundation in your estate or listing us as a beneficiary of your retirement/insurance benefits. Other giving options include:
- Monthly reoccuring transfer from your checking account
- Automatic payroll deduction through your employer
- IRA rollover (permanent tax law as of 2015)
- Land gift (for management or sale)
