South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $10,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Gayville-Volin School District 63-1. Funding will aid in supporting work to safely surface areas around wellness equipment and outdoor musical instruments.

“We appreciate this grant more than we can express. This grant will allow us to complete our outdoor wellness area and musical instrument areas. These will be an amazing asset to our community and this project would have taken much longer to come to fruition without your financial assistance. We appreciate your support and belief in our project,” states Allison Brown Larson, Committee Member.

The Gayville-Volin School District is working to put into place an outdoor wellness park called “Raider Park,” to include a softball complex, baseball field, concession stands, a disc golf course, outdoor classroom, wellness equipment, musical equipment, and a walking path. Although on school property, this space will be available to the entire community and surrounding area.

"We're thrilled to partner with the Gayville-Volin School District to realize Raider Park. Bringing their vision to fruition, creating a vibrant space that enhances the community and instills pride, is truly an achievement worth celebrating," says Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer.

SDCF is a public non-profit organization established in 1987. SDCF, with offices in Pierre, Rapid City, Sioux Falls and Aberdeen administers 1,200 funds benefiting hundreds of charitable organizations annually. The Foundation distributed nearly $31 million in grants in 2023 which made a tremendous difference in communities statewide. This would not have been possible without the generosity of our donors.
