South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $10,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Veterans Community Project (VCP). Funding will help support Veterans Support Services, which impacts the lives of Veterans at risk of and experiencing homelessness in the Sioux Falls region.
“We are humbled to be a recipient of this award from the South Dakota Community Foundation,” said Alisha Grove, Director of Development, Veterans Community Project. “Now that we have residents in the village, working on their personal journeys, with more Veterans moving in before the harsh winter, this gift will help us towards more goals. Thank you again for the support!”
VCP offers holistic support and community collaboration, guiding veterans and their families towards sustainable housing and improved well-being. VCP utilizes tiny homes to allow veterans to progress at their own pace, while receiving individualized care programs tailored to their needs, to prepare them for a self-sustaining life outside of VCP. Once a veteran is Permanent Housing Ready, they are healthy, well trained, have healthy relationships, steady income, and financial stability.
“We are proud to partner with Veterans Community project to help support Veterans Support Services," says Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “Veterans have given so much of themselves to help us, we are honored to be part of something that gives them back their life.”
