The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $10,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Wilmot School District 54-7. Funding will aid in the continuation and expansion of the school daycare program. The daycare program provides daycare services to families of school staff.

“On behalf of the Wilmot School District, we extend our sincere gratitude to the South Dakota Community Foundation for your generous grant to our school daycare,” says Stacey DeBoer, Wilmot Schools Federal Grants Director. “Your support is not just financial; it represents a commitment to the future of our children and our community. Thanks to these funds, we will be able to continue to provide this essential service to our school staff and community. Your investment in our daycare will directly impact the lives of our children, helping them to explore, learn, and develop the skills they need to thrive. Thank you for believing in our mission through your financial support. Together, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of our youngest learners.”

The Wilmot School District is one of a few schools in South Dakota that offer daycare services exclusively for staff members enabling them to focus on work, while ensuring their children are well cared for by well qualified childcare providers. The school aims to create a supportive work environment that attracts and retains talented educators while promoting the well-being and work-life balances of staff.

"Wilmot School District has risen to the challenge to meet the needs of staff by developing a school daycare program," says Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “We are proud to partner with Wilmot School District to help with the continuation and expansion of the daycare, especially at a time when so many South Dakota families are struggling to find daycare for their children.
