South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $20,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Active Generations. Funding will support the purchase of new flooring that has become outdated and is an injury risk.
“The addition and enhancement of a more durable flooring for the main location at Active Generations will ensure a safer environment for all members. Activities such as pickleball, dancing, walking groups, and nutrition will benefit as they positively grow socially, mentally, and physically each day. We are grateful to the South Dakota Community Foundation for their belief in our mission and this project to provide a place for all members and the community,” says Wendy E. McDonnel, Development Director, Active Generations.
Active Generations located in Sioux Falls was created in 1968. Their mission is to promote positive aging for adults and to enhance the quality of life for all through programs, services, and education. Clubs for adults aged 50+ include health and wellness, technology, arts and crafts, and games. Their goal each day is to serve the maturing population, and all active generations, in Sioux Falls and the surrounding area. They provide an environment to address the overall health of this population which includes physical health, mental health, and social health.
“Active Generations work with adults of all ages so they can live their best life,” says Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “We are happy to partner in the funding for a safe and upgraded flooring area for their many activities.”
