$20,000 awarded to Pejuta Waste O’Tipi Good Medicine Lodge from South Dakota Community Foundation
October 16, 2024 // South Dakota Fund GrantsSouth Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $20,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Pejuta Waste O’Tipi Good Medicine Lodge. Funding will help with food, basic needs supplies and transportation for those most vulnerable in the Rapid City community.
"We are deeply grateful to the South Dakota Community Foundation for this generous $20,000 grant, which comes at a critical time as winter approaches,” said Chris White Eagle of Lakota Center. “This funding will allow Pejuta Waste O'Tipi to continue fulfilling our commitment to supporting our most vulnerable relatives in the community. This grant not only strengthens our ability to provide essential services but also reaffirms our shared dedication to uplifting and protecting the lives of our community members, one meal at a time."
Pejuta Waste O’Tipi is a Native American relief organization in collaboration with the community. The nonprofit’s mission is to heal their community one meal at a time. They are committed to providing their most vulnerable relatives with safety, hospitality and compassion, and to assist in identifying resources to meet the needs of the people. Through their dedication, they aim to make a positive impact on many lives, fostering self-determination and a stronger and more resilient community where everyone's needs are met.
