South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $20,000 South Dakota Fund grant to South Dakota Hall of Fame (SDHoF). Funding will assist with funding for an interactive kiosk to the SDHoF’s Visitor and Education Center to celebrate all inductees.
“The grant for an interactive kiosk will totally transform how we share the achievements and life lessons of our inductees with all South Dakotans and the world,” said Laurie Becvar, Executive Director, South Dakota Hall of Fame. “It’s a distinctive history that is not replicated elsewhere. Moreover, we will be able to showcase and honor all 792 inductees at any time. The new approach will be a significant advancement for the state.”
SDHoF was founded in 1974 as the Cowboy and Western Heritage Hall of Fame. In 1986, the organization was officially renamed to the South Dakota Hall of Fame. Currently, SDHoF showcases past inductees in five-year increments in a physical, hanging exhibit that only showcases a photo and year of induction. The interactive kiosk will allow the SDHoF honor all past Inductees and, hopefully, inspire visitors to create and realize their dream.
“We are proud to partner with the South Dakota Hall of Fame to assist with funding for the interactive kiosk,” says Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “Showcasing all of inductees of the SDHoF will allow visitors to research the rich history of South Dakota and all those who came before us to make this the great state we live in today.”
