The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $20,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Stanley County School District. Funding will aid in the purchase of new equipment for their Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes.

“The Community Foundation grant will help the new CTE class with the necessary equipment needed,” said Mr. John Anders, Stanley County Schools welding and woodworking teacher. “It will help provide the equipment to start a CAD program for the manufacturing & machine tool class. The grant will also help to purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) safety equipment – safety glasses, welding leathers, welding helmets, and welding gloves. Thank you.”

With community support, the Stanley County School District has spent the last five years restructuring their CTE classes to better serve the students and community needs. The district strives to bring opportunities to students to learn and grow to meet their ever-changing needs. The district has created partnerships within the community allowing students to develop workforce ready skills needed for employment. These partnerships help students prepare for life after graduation, whether they are going to a technical college/university or directly into the workforce.

"The Stanley County School District has worked to create opportunities for students to learn valuable skills that are needed in South Dakota," says Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “We are proud to partner with the Stanley County School District to help meet the educational needs of their students.”
