$5,000 awarded to Cavalier Corner Inc.

South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $5,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Cavalier Corner Inc. Funding will support building a batting cage for the Tyndall Baseball-Softball Association providing a safe and controlled environment for players to work on pitching and batting skills.
“We are so pleased to accept the $5,000 grant from the South Dakota Community Foundation. With their support, we can build batting cages at the Veterans Memorial Field to support our youth baseball programs. All the SDCF help is greatly appreciated,” says Janet Wagner on behalf of the Tyndall Baseball-Softball Association.
The Association was created to help the City of Tyndall manage the youth baseball and softball programs. The volunteers who serve are selected from the parents who have children involved in the baseball and softball programs. They set up the schedules, hire the coaches for the city, manage the concession stands, hire the officials, and maintain the fields. The group works to provide the best possible program for the children in a positive manner.
“We are happy to “team up” with Cavalier Corner Inc. on this project,” says Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “Besides the obvious physical benefits from youth sports, we should also recognize the enhanced self-esteem, the development of social skills, teamwork, and the development of social responsibility.”
SDCF is a public non-profit organization established in 1987. SDCF, with offices in Pierre, Rapid City, Sioux Falls and Aberdeen administers 1,200 funds benefiting hundreds of charitable organizations annually.
