South Dakota Community Foundation Awards $10,000 to Community Advancement for Roslyn and Eden
December 20, 2024 // Grants, South Dakota Fund GrantsSouth Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $10,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Community Advancement for Roslyn and Eden (CARE). Funding will aid in further developing the Veterans Memorial Park as part of the Roslyn Main Street Revitalization.
“Community Advancement for Roslyn and Eden is very excited about the Roslyn Area Veterans Memorial,” said Shelley Deutsch, President, CARE. “In addition to improving main street, the park will serve as a living tribute to the brave men and women from our community who have selflessly served our nation. Visitors will be able to enjoy beautiful landscape with memorial panels etched with the names of local veterans. This project is made possible by the community working together with the City of Roslyn, Patti Mitchell, and Skip Dolney family who donated the lot, wonderful, dedicated volunteers, and the support from area grants including the South Dakota Community Foundation, AARP and Venture Communications.”
During a groundbreaking ceremony on Memorial Day, CARE began the main street initiative of Veterans Memorial Park of the Roslyn Area. Once complete, the park will host events, cultivate cultural activities, and attract visitors to the community. Veterans Park helps CARE achieve its mission to provide education to the citizens living in the Roslyn and Eden area and those interested in the area about the resources available within the community and to enhance and promote each community as thriving, treasured way of life for present and future generations to come.
“We are proud to partner with the communities of Roslyn and Eden with their revitalization project," says Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “The communities of Roslyn and Eden should be proud of their efforts to revitalize their communities not only for present, but future generations.”
