March 20, 2025 // Grants, South Dakota Fund Grants

South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $10,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Crisis Intervention Shelter Service (CISS). Funding will provide support for their emergency shelter and provide support and advocacy services to victims of domestic violence.
“This grant will help ensure that our program is able to continue providing services to domestic violence victims in our community, ensuring their safety and needs are met with the best advocacy possible,” said Ashley Adams, Executive Director, Crisis Intervention Shelter Services. “The funding we receive will make a difference in our program and in our community. Thank you so much!”
CISS was founded in 1991 with the primary purpose to assist, shelter and support victims of domestic and sexual violence. CISS works not only with the victims of violence, but with the community to eliminate the societal conditions that lead to domestic and sexual violence. Each year, CISS shelters approximately 100 women and children and serves over 300 individuals with their services. CISS assists clients to reach their goals, whether it is to find a new living arrangement or to return to the home and work on the issues within the family. CISS not only has the 24/7 domestic violence shelter with an emergency hotline, but they also advocate for victims throughout the court system, and other support agencies.
“We are delighted to support the work of Crisis Intervention Shelter Service,” says Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “No one deserves to be the victim of domestic or sexual violence.”
