South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $20,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Lower Brule Community College (LBCC). Funding will assist with funding for the implementation of a Student Information System to improve record keeping and student services.

“The student database will significantly impact the college by centralizing student information, enabling efficient administration, facilitating data-driven decision-making, and improving communication between teachers and students,” said Dr. Natalie Anderson, President LBCC. “This will ultimately lead to better student outcomes and improved overall college operations.”

The Lower Brule Sioux Tribe chartered the LBCC in 1993 with the purpose to provide education programs and to establish and operate an educational institution at the post-secondary level on the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe Reservation. With the implementation of a new Student Information System, LBCC provides a one-stop shop for students to apply, register for classes, pay bills, and many other student driven actions. The information system will also provide all members of the LBCC community a consistent, efficient, and reliable system to obtain information.

“Funding from our South Dakota Fund grant program will assist Lower Brule Community College improve many areas of campus communications between students and teachers and staff," says Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “We are proud to support LBCC in their dedication to improve student outcomes.”
