William and Joan Ferguson Receive SDCF Hometown Hero Award
February 19, 2024 // Community Savings Account, DonorsSouth Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently presented William and B. Joan Ferguson of Witten, S.D. with the Hometown Hero award for their generosity to the Tripp County Community Foundation.
The Fergusons recently established a subfund of the Tripp County Community Foundation to benefit the area for years to come. No one knows a community better than those who call it home. Since 1987, SDCF has had the privilege to collaborate with generous people wanting to give their neighbors a better place to call HOME. Our Hometown Heroes are a special group of people passionate about helping communities grow and thrive.
Fergusons stated, “Tripp County has long been a patriotic and generous community with a strong commitment to youth development through schools, churches, fraternal and business organizations. Our daughter Michelle and our son Michael received solid foundations for learning and personal achievement in this community.”
The establishment of this fund has been something Bill and Joan have thought about for some time. The fund honors two of Bill and Joan’s children that left life on earth too early.
“Our community will be forever grateful for this gift Bill and Joan are giving to us on behalf of their beloved children.”
Dawn Covey, Tripp County Community Foundation Chairperson
Their gift will further the Tripp County Community Foundation’s goal to raise $200,000 for a match of $100,000 from the Grossenburg family and $50,000 from the Lillibridge Family Community Fund held at SDCF. All funds raised will benefit nonprofits in the Tripp County area.
“We are pleased to support the Tripp County Community Foundation by establishing this fund. We encourage others to support the Foundation as well,” said Bill and Joan.
