A Watchful Eye
The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) presented a $7,230 South Dakota Fund grant to East Dakota Education Cooperative d/b/a Teachwell Solutions in Sioux Falls. Funds helped fill gaps in their existing security system.
“The South Dakota Community Foundation’s generous donation allowed us to purchase security cameras for our alternative school”, said Lis Bjorneberg, Human Resources Manager, Teachwell Solutions. “Other funding sources have restrictions that specifically disallow funding for cameras, but the grant awarded by SDCF allowed us to purchase those cameras that are key to maintaining a safe building for our students.”
East Dakota Educational Cooperative d/b/a Teachwell Solutions is an educational coop formed in 1996 by Brandon Valley, Lennox and West Central School Districts. Teachwell operates Teachwell Academy, an alternative school for students that did not achieve success in local school districts, and Teachwell Transitions, a living and job skills program for special education students.
“The South Dakota Community Foundation is proud to partner with Teachwell Solutions as they work to address security issues for their students”, said Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “Students must feel safe in order to thrive in their learning environment.”
The South Dakota Fund is an unrestricted fund that makes grants in support of culture, economic development, education, health and human services.
