Parkston Area Foundation: Recognition Park and Telethon Fundraiser

The Parkston Area Foundation (PAF) was established in 2004 and has seen great success since its inception.

Since 2007, the PAF has been giving annual grants and scholarships to worthy applicants in the Parkston area that currently total around $175,000.

“The Parkston Scholarship Fund is very new to the Parkston Area Foundation,” says PAF Board Member Audrey Bowar. “It was created within the PAF in 2017 with the purpose to provide a scholarship to EVERY graduating senior in Parkston. It is our intention to let the youth in Parkston know that we believe in them, we are willing to help them reach their goals, and we would like to see them return to our community in the future.”

SD Ag Foundation accepts $4M challenge from SD Gov. Daugaard & South Dakota Community Foundation

Sioux Falls, SD; March 20, 2018 — On National Ag Day, the South Dakota Agricultural Foundation accepted a five-year challenge to raise $4 million for future support of South Dakota’s agriculture industry. Funds raised by the SD Ag Foundation will be matched by an additional $1 million in funds from the South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) and SD Governor Dennis Daugaard.

SDCF Board Member Scott Jones Shares SDCF and Capital Area United Way History

One of our newest board members, Scott Jones of Pierre, was recently keynote speaker at the Capital Area United Way Annual Meeting. He shared early history of the South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) and Capital Area United Way.

Mr. Jones was on the first steering committee and served as board chair in 1992 and 1993 for the Capital Area United Way. He continues to generously support the organization and its good work.

Kimball Area Foundation hosts Keeping it in Kimball event

In September 2016, the Kimball Area Foundation accepted a challenge grant from SDCF to raise $100,000 by September 2018 for $25,000 from SDCF. In efforts to raise awareness regarding the local CSA and reach the challenge grant goal, the Kimball Economic Development board and its Director, Anita Holan, organized "Keeping it in Kimball" with the goal of raising funds and awareness for the Kimball Area Foundation on Saturday, June 24 this year.

Tyndall Community Foundation: Success Through Dedicated Leadership

Last month, Ginger Neimann, SDCF Grant Program Officer, and I had the privilege to meet with Janet Wagner and Judith Mace, board members of the Tyndall Community Foundation.  A fun part of this job is to see communities reach their goals and this community savings account recently hit the $200,000 mark. With dedicated leadership and a community that understands the community savings account concept, Tyndall is set up for success.
