In response to many immediate needs due to the coronavirus, Delta Dental of South Dakota (DDSD) Foundation has contributed $200,000 to the South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) Coronavirus Response Fund.

“The Delta Dental of South Dakota Foundation Board of Directors was immediately drawn to the statewide response efforts underway by the South Dakota Community Foundation,” said Scott Jones, DDSD Foundation Board President. “The distributions they are making to provide critical, front-line services to those in need align with our Board’s priorities and we are honored to partner with them in this work.”

Last month, in efforts to aid communities and nonprofits in need due to the coronavirus outbreak, the SDCF established the Coronavirus Response Fund. The Fund provides support to nonprofit and community organizations directly addressing the needs of those affected by coronavirus, whether due to actual infection by the virus or by efforts to curb or prevent the spread of the virus.

The SDCF recently distributed dollars to the following nonprofits to address immediate concerns: American Red Cross, Feeding South Dakota, Helpline Center, Lutheran Social Services, Partnership With Native Americans, The Salvation Army and to eleven adult nutrition centers across South Dakota. The Foundation is also providing matching grants to Community Savings Account partners that are responding to local community needs as a result of the Coronavirus.  Nearly $600,000 has been made available from the Coronavirus Response Fund to organizations and communities across South Dakota to date.

“As a statewide community foundation, we work to serve and strengthen communities across South Dakota every day,” said Stephanie Judson, SDCF President & CEO. “Delta Dental of South Dakota Foundation’s generous gift allows us to continue deploying much needed funding to address the myriad of issues posed by the Coronavirus. We are grateful and humbled by their support.”

In addition to gifts from the SDCF’s South Dakota Fund and the Bush Foundation in St. Paul, Minnesota, several South Dakotans have already committed to the statewide response fundsince its launch last month. If you would like to ensure that people impacted by the coronavirus receive the help they need, consider a gift to the SDCF Coronavirus Response Fund. One hundred percent of the funds collected go directly towards addressing coronavirus concerns in our state.
