The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) presented a $10,000 South Dakota Fund grant to The Boys & Girls Club of Brookings, Inc./Yankton Unit. Funds will provide partial support for the recycling program offered through the Club.
“The community of Yankton just began recycling in 2017”, said Vanessa Merhib, CEO, Boys & Girls Club, Brookings, Yankton and Moody County. “We feel that having a recycling club will align our program with Yankton’s community goal. Participants will contribute to keeping the Club, Yankton and the world a better place. This grant from the South Dakota Community Foundation will go a long way in supporting this effort.”
The Boys & Girls Club in Yankton offers youth 1st through 12th grade the opportunity to be a part of their recycling program. They can be a part of creating, implementing and building sustainability for their community.
“The South Dakota Community Foundation is proud to partner with the Boys & Girls Club of Yankton as they work to provide support for the city of Yankton’s recycling efforts”, said Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “All of us have a responsibility to leave as small an imprint as possible on our surroundings.”
