Learning Never Stops
The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) presented an $8,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Three Rivers Special Services Cooperative in Philip. Funds helped defray transportation costs for the Kadoka Learning Center 21st Century Afterschool and Summer Program.
“Three Rivers Special Services Cooperative is very excited to receive the South Dakota Fund grant to support their Kadoka Learning Center program”, said Nikki Bonenberger, Kadoka Learning Center Project Director. “The grant makes it possible for the program to now offer field trip experiences across South Dakota to many rural students. Many of these students have never traveled within 50 miles of this area. Thank you for making this possible for our students.”
The Kadoka Learning Center 21st Century Afterschool and Summer Program provides daily afterschool and summer programs along with weekly summer field trips to locations throughout South Dakota. This grant will ensure that 40 elementary students can be bussed the 30 miles daily from Wanblee to school in Kadoka.
“The South Dakota Community Foundation is proud to partner with Three Rivers Special Services as they strive to ensure that all children have access to enrichment programs”, said Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “Learning does not stop when the school day and/or school year ends.”
