The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) presented a $10,000 South Dakota Fund grant to the Family Education and Counseling Center (FECC).  Funds will provide partial support for office and technology upgrades.

“With the support from the South Dakota Community Foundation, the Family Education and Counseling Center will now be able to more professionally and efficiently meet its mission of providing counseling services to individuals in need, regardless of the ability to pay”, said Becky Frank, Director, FECC.

Located in Yankton, South Dakota the Family Education and Counseling Center, Inc. is a nonprofit established to provide therapeutic services to children, adults, families and couples in that area whose needs were not being met by existing agencies. No one is denied services due to inability to pay. Three master’s level therapists provide high quality, confidential and professional services. The FECC uses grants to support its service delivery.

“The South Dakota Community Foundation is proud to partner with the Family Education and Counseling Center as they make necessary improvements to ensure their counselors are functioning in a desirable work environment”, said Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “Their services are filling a gap that was not being met previously.”

The South Dakota Fund is an unrestricted fund that makes grants in support of culture, economic development, education, health and human services. The SDCF awards grants throughout the year to nonprofits that meet vital and diverse needs across the state.
