Supporting Farmers and Ranchers
The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) presented a $10,000 grant to the Avera McKennan Foundation to provide support for the Farm & Rural Stress Hotline.
“We’re very grateful to the South Dakota Community Foundation for their generous gift to support farmers, ranchers and residents of rural communities who are experiencing difficulties due to stress and hardship. This gift will undoubtedly impact lives in helping us to provide this free resource to individuals and their loved ones,” said Thomas Otten, Assistant Vice President for Avera Behavioral Health Services.
Extreme weather conditions, machinery breakdowns, a volatile ag environment, long hours that prevent time with family and lowered income all cause frustration. Avera offers the Farm & Rural Stress Hotline for farmers, ranchers and their families at no cost. The hotline is free, confidential, staffed by trained counselors and available 24/7. Call today at 1-800-691-4336.
“The South Dakota Community Foundation is proud to partner with the Avera McKennan Foundation as they provide this valuable service for our state’s farmers, ranchers and their families”, said Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “Everyone can agree that mother nature has sent some unique challenges our way this past year. It’s time for everyone to step up and support those folks that have contributed so much to our state for years.”
