The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) presented a $15,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Teen Challenge of the Dakotas (TCD). Funds will be used to provide support for their residential recovery program and to support a recidivism study that will be conducted by the Wilder Research Group.

“We are grateful to everyone involved at the South Dakota Community Foundation for this recent $15,000 grant award”, said Rev. Mike Gilmartin, Executive Director, Teen Challenge of the Dakotas.  “These funds will help cover the costs of a current research study project and help sustain and continue our residential long-term program services.”

Teen Challenge of the Dakotas is a faith-based residential recovery program located in Brookings, South Dakota for adult males ages 18 and older. Since 1995, they have served more than 600 men whose lives were shattered by drugs, alcohol and other life-controlling problems. Over 70% of the TCD participants are referred by court order as a last resort before incarceration.

“The South Dakota Community Foundation is proud to partner with Teen Challenge of the Dakotas as they continue their life changing work”, said Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “The cost of addiction for  the individual, our communities and state is immeasurable.”

The South Dakota Fund is an unrestricted fund that makes grants in support of culture, economic development, education, health and human services. The SDCF awards grants throughout the year to nonprofits that meet vital and diverse needs across the state.
