Nearly $570,000 Awarded from Beyond Idea Grant Program
Seven South Dakota nonprofits will receive grant awards totaling $569,138 from the South Dakota Community Foundation’s (SDCF) Beyond Idea Grant (BIG) program. Offered in partnership with the Bush Foundation, the BIG program supports community-based problem-solving efforts in South Dakota. This announcement showcases recipients from the second round of the BIG program in 2023.

Scott and Julia Jones Create Charitable Endowment for PARS with SDCF
Because of the generosity of Scott and Julia Jones of Pierre, S.D., and a nonprofit savings account challenge (NSA) from the South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF), an endowment totaling over $100,000 was created to benefit Pierre Area Referral Services (PARS) in perpetuity. SDCF offers NSA challenges to encourage endowed giving for our state’s nonprofits. $20,000 is provided from SDCF if $80,000 is raised by the nonprofit within two years.
$15,250 Awarded to Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons
South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons a $15,250 South Dakota Fund grant. Funds will assist in launching the Girl Scouts Citizen Science Initiative.
$30,000 Awarded to Emily’s Hope
South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded Emily’s Hope the South Dakota Fund grant to expand the number of schools teaching prevention curriculum in grades K-5, as well as develop lessons for middle and high school students. The goal of the curriculum is to educate children on the dangers of substance abuse, providing them with the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy choices. The $30,000 grant will be paid over three years.
