Problem-Solving Initiatives Receive $600,000 in Beyond Idea Grants

On Monday, July 22nd, seven Sioux Falls area nonprofits received over $600,000 from the South Dakota Community Foundation’s (SDCF) Beyond Idea Grant (BIG) program. Offered in partnership with the Bush Foundation, the BIG program supports community-based problem-solving efforts in South Dakota.

$5,000 awarded to Belle Fourche Area Community Theater

South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $5,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Belle Fourche Area Community Theater. Funding will purchase rights and scripts, costumes, set construction materials and venue rental for season programming.

$18,000 awarded to University of South Dakota Physician Assistant Studies Program

South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $18,395 South Dakota Fund grant to the University of South Dakota (USD) Physician Assistant Studies Program. Funding will purchase a virtual reality headset for the BehaVR Project enhancing patients’ relaxation and meditation skills and helping them learn strategies to optimize their quality of life.

Western South Dakota Nonprofits Awarded $162,000

Black Hills Special Services Cooperative/Compass, South Dakota Association for the Education of Young Children and Starbase of South Dakota recently received $162,000 from South Dakota Community Foundation’s (SDCF) Beyond Idea Grant (BIG) and South Dakota Fund programs.

Northeast South Dakota Economic Corporation Granted $100,000

Northeast South Dakota Economic Corporation (NESDEC) recently received $100,000 from South Dakota Community Foundation’s (SDCF) Beyond Idea Grant (BIG) program to expand their Digital Literacy Program.
